Hey comedy nerds, it’s Andy, and I finally got the keys to the site. Big things are happening in the world of Mostly Comedy, so stay tuned, or whatever the equivalent of “tuned” is for a podcast. You really don’t have to “tune” anything. You just.. click, really.  So stay clicked!

In the meantime, be sure and catch me opening for the amazing Paul F. Tompkins at Minglewood Hall on March 20th. Paul is my favorite comedian out there, period, and is worth every penny of admission. For more information, check out bigfunnyproductions.com

Oh, and on the PS tip- Paul will be dropping by the podcast! Look for that eppy to drop on Friday, March 26th.

And remember, people: podcasts are where the money’s at.

The Psychedelic Salon

by Justin on Nov.19, 2009, under Blogs, Justin Talley, Uncategorized

One of our favorite and most-listened-to podcasts on the web today is the Psychedelic Salon, created and maintained by Lorenzo.  The Salon features the most mind-boggling and insightful recordings from the elders of the psychedelic society such as Terence McKenna, Rupert Sheldrake, Ralph Abraham, Timothy Leary, Bruce Damer, and a host of others. Some of the best recordings come from the Palenque Norte lectures and his Burning Man materials.

Lorenzo has also released a gripping semi-autobiographical audiobook, The Genesis Generation, which has the quality of being listened to an infinite number of times and still gleaning new information.

Check out Salon and The Genesis Generation now!

A podcast network, perhaps?

by Justin on Nov.06, 2009, under Blogs, Justin Talley

The above cats represent more than 66 pounds of fur. They represent an idea. Shut Up And Listen has expanded to a point where we think we can offer our listeners even more entertainment for their valuable time invested in their subscription.

Put simply, we want more shows on our feed. If you’ve been listening to Shut Up And Listen and feel like you’d be right at home podcasting next to us, drop us an email and let us know! We can help you conceptualize, start recording, and produce your podcast!

The best part is your new or old show will be included in our feed, meaning you have a built-in audience!

Jared’s Album of the week: Monsters of Folk

by jared on Nov.02, 2009, under Blogs, Jared Callan, Jared's Album of the Week

I’m going to do my best to post my favorite album picks every week. We’ll see how that goes.

This week I start it off strong with an album, that I can’t stop listening to, by supergroup Monsters of Folk.

MOF_jennifer_tzar

The band is made up of some of my favorite musicians and, just by listening to this album, has introduced me to some new favorites. Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis, from Bright Eyes, My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, and singer-songwriter M. Ward make up this amazing band. If you’ve ever heard of any of these guys, then you will love this album. If not, then you need to listen to it and check out all of their respective projects. Trust me, its well worth your time.
